I doubt the tumblers need as much air because wen u turn them the air get’s evenly distributed.
Allso urine makes the compost work quiker.
What happened to the compost tumbler? I have the first black, square segmented bin and a large compost tumbler and I love the tumbler. It is hard to turn when full but it makes excellent finished compost in under four weeks and it gets really hot. It also is flimsy and needed some additional reinforcement to make it heavy duty but it is an older model so they may have fixed those issues. It gets used constantly.
I have a 2 storey composter with a black plastic bin on top and a brick compartment on bottom. It is fairly quick and a great part of it is that there is so little effort to it. You just pull the half finished material down from the top bin into the bottom through a lid and it mixes as you pull it out. Perhaps the tumblers need to be black to get hotter?
Also, my reason for brick and the plastic bin up high is rodents. Your open composters will not protect against them. Thanks, Brian
isn’t this really part 2?
